Be like the Bereans!

The apostle Paul praised the Jewish Bereans who heard the gospel message and immediately searched the scriptures to see if all Paul said was true. They had open hearts and discerning minds – testing all that they heard.

“Now the Jews in Berea were more noble-minded than those in Thessalonica, for they received the word with great eagerness, examining the scriptures daily to see whether these things were so” (Acts 17:11)

We live in deceptive times. And there is a kaleidoscope of different theological beliefs and perspectives in the Christian church today.

Are you confused with the plethora of conflicting interpretations of the bible? Do you find yourself wondering how on earth you can figure out which one is correct? Can the bible really be understood? Or do I need a degree or an ‘expert’ to decipher it?

The good news…..

The scope of what God has revealed to mankind through the Scriptures is breathtaking. He intends for us ALL to know Him, and to understand His plans and purpose for His church and the world. What a precious gift! But it gets even better—we have the author of His Word, the Holy Spirit, who indwells us and promises to guide us into ALL truth (John 16:13).

This eight-week banquet will give you simple and practical tools that will equip you to discover God’s truth for yourself. You will find out how to:

• Carefully observe Scripture to see what it says and develop its context
• Accurately interpret the Word to understand its intended meaning
• Apply truth to your life so that you may please Him

This ancient, inductive method of bible interpretation, known as the literal, historical, grammatical, and contextual method, allows the bible to speak for itself so that you can discern the clear, timeless meaning of any passage of Scripture.

This banquet will not tell you what to think, but it will give you foundational principles to teach you how to think about any passage of the Bible, enabling you to discover truth for yourself, better understand the meaning of any Scripture, and test everything you hear from others – just like the Bereans!

This will be a relaxed and relational time together. We will begin each week with nibbles and getting to know each other. Whether you are a young Christian or more seasoned in the Lord, we’ll learn and grow together.
