The inspiration behind Knowing Rediscovered came from the realisation that we didn’t really know anything. We had a lot of information in our heads, but our hearts were longing to really know and be known.   All the data in our heads did not remove the fear, doubt, unworthiness, and shame that was in our hearts – the place where true knowing resides.

After much failure, loneliness and loss we put all our head knowledge about God aside. In desperation, we reread the Gospels with a fresh plea for God to enlighten the eyes of our hearts.

Many things became clear to us: the importance of identity, an experiential relationship with God and living in the Kingdom of God (Session 1).

The truth we learned is that Jesus isn’t asking us to imitate him. He never interacts with people the same way twice. Every encounter with Jesus is unique…because Jesus knows who he is, what he is supposed to say and what he is supposed to do.

Jesus knows his identity, he can hear from the Father and see what the Father is doing. This is what he modelled for us: we can learn to experience God deeply and intimately in relationship so that we don’t just know about him, but really know Him.

We can finally stop wondering, “What would Jesus do?” And, simply ask, “God, what do you want me to know?”
